Assistant Professor in the Center for Applied Economics at the Universidad de Chile
Carlos Noton is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the Universidad de Chile. He has previously held a teaching position at the University of Warwick, and has performed consulting activities on demand estimation, retail pricing, and antitrust.
His research interests include industrial organization, applied econometrics, and consumer behavior. His research has appeared in the Economic Journal, International Journal of Industrial Organization, SERIEs – Journal of the Spanish Economic Association, and Applied Economics. Dr. Noton’s paper on “Structural Estimation of Price Adjustment Costs in the European Car Market” was awarded as the best paper published in the International Journal of Industrial Organization in 2016. He also received a grant for his work on bargaining power and upstream mergers.
He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.A. and M.A. in Economics from Universidad de Chile.
