Andrew Kleit

Professor of Energy and Environmental Economics and MICASU Faculty Fellow at Pennsylvania State University

Andrew N. Kleit is Professor of Energy and Environmental Economics and MICASU Faculty Fellow. His current research interests are focused on the areas of competition in electricity and natural gas markets. He is the author or editor of over 70 academic articles and seven books. He has worked at several different regulatory agencies, including the President’s Council of Economic Advisors, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. With a wealth of experience and expertise in energy economics and policy, he has made significant contributions to the field and has become a respected authority in the field.

Dr. Kleit's academic journey began with a strong interest in understanding the complex dynamics of energy markets and the socioeconomic implications of energy policy decisions. Throughout his career, Dr. Kleit has held various academic positions and has conducted extensive research on energy markets, regulation, and policy. His work has focused on evaluating the economic and environmental impacts of different energy technologies and policies, with a particular emphasis on electricity markets and renewable energy.

In addition to his research and consulting activities, Dr. Kleit is a dedicated educator. He has taught a wide range of courses on energy economics, environmental policy, and energy regulation, inspiring and mentoring countless students over the years. Known for his engaging teaching style and ability to make complex concepts accessible, he has received numerous accolades for his excellence in teaching.
