Congratulations to Robert E. Hall of Stanford University and Michael Woodford of Columbia University, recipients of the 2026 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences!
This year's prize recognizes their contributions to the microeconomic foundations of macroeconomic stabilization.
Their research helped reshape how economists understand economic fluctuations and how monetary and fiscal policy can be used to address them. Their work has provided a theoretical foundation for models used by central banks and governments to better understand economic fluctuations and inform monetary and fiscal policy.
Congratulations to both laureates on this well-deserved recognition!
