The Rising Higher event will celebrate Rising International’s 19th Anniversary and the women across the globe who have benefited from Rising's innovative economic development programs.
Rising is a non-profit organization that leverages the transformative power of entrepreneurship to economically empower survivors of extreme poverty, homelessness, gender-based violence, and human trafficking, both locally and globally. From homeless shelters in the United States to a secret basement in Afghanistan, women in 27 countries run Rising businesses that help each other rise. The organization has won several awards including the Silicon Valley Community Impact Award and the Ashoka Changemaker Award.
The event’s Keynote Speaker, Deborah Pembrook will share how survivor leadership changes the world. Deborah is an educator and human trafficking survivor. Deborah will share Rising’s vision for expanding its current leadership development program for human trafficking survivors in the Bay Area. She’ll show us how empowered survivors can build resilient communities that can eliminate human trafficking.
