We congratulate Vega expert Dr. Hans Isakson for his forthcoming publications, “Principle for Calculating AVM Performance Metrics,” which will appear in the Winter 2020 edition of The Appraisal Journal, and “An Exposition of AVM Performance Metrics,” which will appear in The Journal of Real Estate Education and Practice.

Dr. Isakson is a Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Northern Iowa. In addition to publishing many articles containing hedonic valuation models, he has applied these models to measure the impact of proximity to confined animal feeding operations, leaking underground storage tanks, public schools, and many other locational amenities/disamenities. His 1998 article, “The Review of Real Estate Appraisals Using Multiple Regression Analysis,” in The Journal of Real Estate Research, has been cited as an authority in a court decision in Minnesota. He has also published studies on real estate and land market analysis, urban land development models, appraisal methods, real estate investment analysis, energy conservation in buildings, and economic impact studies. He has testified as an expert witness in cases regarding complex real estate transactions, ad valorem disputes, and applications of regressions in real estate appraisal.
